Annual Priorities: 2025-2026

A Safer Tomorrow Starts Today

Priority 1: Recruit partner organizations & establish a local coalition of stakeholders to address the intersection of mental health crises & gun violence.

Priority 2: Build a Case Study to better understand system gaps/areas for optimization.

Priority 3: Collaborate with partners to create/deliver in-person & digital professional education programs on Virginia’s Emergency Substantial Risk Orders (the “Red Flag Law”).

Priority 4: Collaborate with partners to create/deliver threat assessment cards to help our valued first responders make critical decisions about risk of violence & need for intervention.

Priority 5: Educate our neighbors in the Albemarle/Charlottesville Community on mental health crises, available mental health resources and laws, gun safety procedures and violence prevention laws, and what to do to improve safety.

Priority 6: Launch a campaign to encourage community members to speak up & act when neighbors are in crisis, threats and crimes are observed, and intervention is needed.

What we plan to prioritize this year:

Join us

With the love, generosity and support from neighbors near a far, we’ve been able to establish this new community organization.

Our priorities have been informed by months of engagement with experts in mental health crises and gun violence, and key stakeholders in the Albemarle/Charlottesville area. With that said, if you feel they don’t align to our community needs, we want to hear from you. Our ground-up approach only works with your collaboration. Your voice matters.
